At Mayfield Pre School we provide a nurturing and fun environment where the children gain confidence by making friends and forming good relationships with their key person. They will have gained lots of skills like achieving their own self care needs, problem solving and fine motor skills by using playdough, crafts, threading and much more. They will have discovered enthusiasm for learning through exploring the local environment around them and challenging activities based on their interests. 

The transition to primary school is a big step which we try to help with as much as possible. We have good connections with the local Mayfield Primary School (as most of our children attend there) by sharing several celebrations together like Easter and Christmas.  We also share learning opportunities with the reception class where the children get a glimpse of where they might learn and play next, meeting the reception teacher and familiarising themselves with the school environment which have proved invaluable to an easier transition.

In the Summer Term your child will have several transition sessions at your chosen primary school where they will get the chance to meet the staff and other children that will be in their class. This helps the child and staff get to know each other ready for their September start. If your child is not going to attend Mayfield Primary School we welcome visits from the teachers of your chosen school at the Pre School. 

We will share their learning journeys with their new teachers and give a detailed summative assessment for each child so that their future teacher has a comprehensive insight into your child and how they learn. 

We know that by the end of the Summer Term our children are ready for their next challenge ahead at primary school.
